September 3rd thru 24th Thursdays 1-4 pm
Guided by fiber artist Elizabeth Garlington, this beginner‑friendly class introduces slow‑stitch fabric collage as a meditative art practice. Students will intuitively select, layer, and combine fabrics together by using simple straight‑stitch embroidery with both thread and yarn with optional bead and trim/lace embellishments. The calming, repetitive process supports relaxation, creativity, and mindful focus. Participants will leave the course with foundational art-making skills and a growing body of work of fabric collage to continue on their own.
Supplies for you to gather: Preloved clothing, vintage scraps, laces, and embellishments such as buttons, beads, and favorite small ephemera/materials. This can include old tablecloths, sheets and trims, as well as preloved clothing. Embroidery hoops, threads, foundation fabrics, and needles will be provided.
