ARCHIVED ART QUILTS

For over thirty years I have explored image making through the art of quilting. Childhood exposure, via my mother’s art and antiques business, familiarized me with textile art from around the world, as well as folk art of the southern United States. My early quilting endeavors exposed me to traditional piece work and contemporary fiber art processes. That provided me with a vast aesthetic encyclopedia of influences, inspiration and knowledge. I have been making collages in fabric, based in those experiences, ever since. My artwork ebbs and flows between periods where my imagery is more abstract, and those where it is narrative in nature. I am always exploring shape, color and pattern, and bringing those elements together through collage processes where I layer fabric, piece it, applique pieces, work with slow stitches and machine stitching, and embellish my layers with all manner of adornments.

All pieces were professionally finished with a hanging sleeve & rod, a gallery wrapped mount, or a framed mount.

All artworks in this Archive have sold.
