LAYLA - Fabric Vase
LAYLA, a Fabric Vase inspired by the Hebrew word ‘layl’ meaning night, began as a repurposed glass wine bottle. She was transformed into a unique fabric vessel with a brown, ochre-yellow, and ivory palette of African mud cloth with appliqued patches of black and white Japanese floral fabric.
This functional Fabric Vase obtains its asymmetrical shape and added height by cotton batting and fabric wrapped around the glass bottle. LAYLA is both functional and beautiful, attention grabbing, looks wonderful amid groupings, and is the perfect gift for art lovers and quilters!
The glass bottle interior allows for the display of fresh cut flowers in water.
This vase is also great for displaying dried and artificial flowers, reeds, pencils & paintbrushes.
Dimensions: Approximately 12.5”h x 7.25”w x 18”d
Materials: Assorted cotton fabrics, African Mud Cloth, Kantha Cloth, DMC embroidery threads and cotton batting.

VESSELS OF HOPE
Vessels of Hope is an ongoing series of Fabric Vases that vary in size, shape, height, and fabric composition. The upcycled fabrics I use to create my Fabric Vases come from Within Reach, a high-quality local resale shop in Waynesville, NC profiting Reach of Haywood County, a non-profit that provides aid to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
10% of the purchase price of a Fabric Vase is donated to Reach of Haywood County, with the hope that victimized individuals and families can leave violent circumstances and embark on better futures.
